Dana is failing Biology. To pass she must attend an extra credit assignment with several classmates that will lead them into a remote region of the Great Dismal Swamp, a place teeming with life... and death. While the group keeps one eye out for hungry bear, deadly snakes and lurking gators, they are unaware of the real danger. For the top of the food chain lives in a dingy cabin not too far from their campsite, and he has an appetite for human flesh.

Bill Oberest Jr. was absolutely flawless as the crazy ass redneck, and Tim Morris and Lydia Chandler where also quite good as the "hero" and heroine.

Dismal is pretty much a generic backwoods cannibal movie, it is however a very well made and intriguing one. Despite there certainly being some stereotypes all the characters are likable and relate-able. The story is generic, but its a proven story that will very often provide an enjoyable movie. There is a very strong smooth running script, with very good production values, and special effects. A true hidden gem, and i strongly suggest you go to there website and get this movie.
